Uniform
We believe that a school uniform is important:
It looks smart
Wears well
Contributes to a sense of belonging and community
Makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
Fosters a feeling of pride
Is designed with health and safety in mind
We ask that all children wear the uniform and encourage them to maintain a good standard of clean and tidy dress in school.
The uniform is designed to be practical, maintainable and good value for money.
Hair accessories such as slides, ribbons, hairbands, etc, should be fairly simple and if possible in school colours.
Parents are asked to ensure that all items are labelled clearly with their child’s name.
For safety reasons we ask that the children do not wear jewellery in school.
For health reasons it is important that children are properly dressed for physical activity. PE kit should be worn on PE days and also be labelled with their child's name.
Parents are asked that children are dressed in school uniform and that any clothing is appropriate for school. Suitable footwear must be worn, not trainers, open toed sandals or flip flops. Trainers are not allowed unless worn for PE as they are not part of our uniform.
Trousers, shorts, pinafore dresses and skirts should be grey. Cardigans, jumpers, polo shirts and PE tops with the school logo on are for sale from www.brigade.uk.com.
Plain navy blue jumpers and cardigans, white polo shirts and round necked white t-shirts for PE can be bought from elsewhere.
During the summer blue & white dresses may be worn.
Clothing for PE & Games
All children require additional equipment for PE & Games. For PE, children wear black shorts and a white t-shirt. Plimsolls are worn for games activities. These items should be named and kept in school for the school week in a named PE bag on each cloakroom peg. Children should take their bags home every Friday for parents to wash the PE kit.
During PE & Games activities, long hair must be tied back and no earrings should be worn. We think that anyone who has seen a torn earlobe will understand the need for this!
Book Bags
We encourage the children to take a reading book home each evening to read to parents, to keep books clean and to stop them getting lost, book bags are for sale from the office .
Lost Property
It is very important that all items of clothing are CLEARLY NAMED. If anything is lost in school it should be reported immediately to the child’s class teacher.
Children are expected to take care of their belongings. The school cannot take responsibility for lost items. This is why we do not allow money, jewellery etc into school.
